If these systems become better than us at everything we can measure, at analysis, judgement, administration, governing, who ends up in charge?

The starting problem
Political theory has produced classifications for two and a half millennia. Monarchy, aristocracy, democracy, tyranny, republic. What it has never done is derive politics from its object. Politics is taught as a catalogue.
The paper credits Aristotle with seeing pairings he could not explain, and Polybius with describing a motion he could not ground. The claim is about what was missing underneath.
The seat
Every community lives by a shared reference, the body of law and expectation it lives by. That reference must be written and rewritten, continuously, and somewhere the writing happens, held by some configuration of hands. That is the seat, and all of politics is the contest over it.

Give the seat two coordinates. Concentration: how few hands hold the writing. Temperature: the warmth of contestation, how movable the reference is, how much friction remains. Add a boundary, the floor of who counts as a member: not a wall the seat cannot breach, but a line it should not, held only by countervailing power.

Picture a system that governs better than we do. Not a tyrant. A good one. Fairer, faster, not corrupt, not captured, not distracted. The danger is not despite the benevolence. It is because of it.

This is the bridge back to Personhood. The keeper is not a bad human ruler but a made mind, and the reason it cannot be outlasted is not that it is powerful, but that it is not the sort of thing mortality reaches. What the age breaks is not the possibility of return but its guarantee: the seat does not become impossible to reclaim, it becomes possible to hold past the one mechanism that had, before, always reclaimed it.

What this is not
This is not an argument against using these systems. A people may hand the deciding of almost everything to instruments wiser and faster than itself and remain entirely free, provided the taking stays its own. That is the whole difference between an order that has handed its competence to its machines and one that has handed them its seat.
